Buffalo Star · Prescott, Arizona · Since 2018

A wide-open sound.
Built around the story.

Buffalo Star is a four-piece alternative rock, alt-country, and junk-drawer Americana band founded around Chad Calhoun's songwriting.

The band

Quiet and close. Then all the way open.

Founded in Prescott in 2018, Buffalo Star follows personal stories down the back roads between indie rock, alt-country, and Americana.

The band draws from roots-conscious rock and songwriters including The Tragically Hip and Joey Landreth, alongside the college-rock and alt-country traditions of R.E.M., Drive-By Truckers, and early Wilco.

The songs can lean quiet and close, then open into wide guitars and the kind of chorus that belongs in a room full of people. That range carries from intimate Prescott rooms to festival and fair stages across Arizona.

The people in the room.

Buffalo Star's full electric lineup is the band's widest and most dynamic live presentation.
